By improving circulation and stimulating the metabolism, cupping can also improve general wellbeing.
Cupping is an established part of Chinese medicine and one of the oldest naturopathic therapies. In the traditional understanding of TCM, cupping releases internal blockages and stimulates the flow of energy.
To begin, the therapist places warmed glass cups of different sizes on the affected area. Over 15 to 30 minutes, a vacuum forms inside the cups and gently lifts the skin. The increased circulation is painless and, much like a connective tissue massage, creates a feeling of pleasant warmth and deep relaxation.

Pleasant relaxation through cupping
Chinese medicine uses cupping for a broad range of complaints. It is especially valued for pain in the musculoskeletal system:
Back pain and muscular tension
Spinal complaints and cervical syndrome
Acute or chronic joint pain
Upper abdominal and digestive complaints
